Overview
This live course is designed to teach the basics common to first-year Tax staff such as professional expectations, understanding the workflow, documentation best practices, and understanding common tax issues and basic tax forms. Case studies revolve around real life scenarios focusing on most of the common tax forms in individual and business returns. Participants will learn how to use Wolters Kluwer software tools and their various features and functionality to complement their newly acquired skills.

Program Description
Designed for new hires fresh out of college, as well as personnel with less than one year of experience, this 3-day program will prepare your staff members in the following areas common to first-year tax preparers:

  • Professional expectations for the public accounting industry and for entry level staff.
  • Understanding the tax preparation process, from the initial receipt of workpapers, to proper documentation, to managing preparer and review notes.
  • Comprehension of tax law fundamentals with an understanding of most common areas (i.e., wages, interest, rental and pass through income, itemized deductions and common credits.)
  • Case studies revolving around common Individual and business tax return situations, including self-guided preparation of an Individual tax return.
  • Industry leading new user training and tips for CCH Axcess™ Tax and CCH ProSystem fx® Tax -- as well as the basics of Microsoft® Excel®, Adobe® Acrobat® and PDFlyer™ -- using accounting-related examples.

This program is focused on elevating your staff into the next phase of their careers by:

  • Giving them the expertise to prepare complex individual and business tax returns
  • Fulfilling the expectations of a developing staff
  • Ensuring they’re prepared to review the work of others

Case studies revolve around more complex issues like AMT, Schedules M-1, M-2, and M-3, and multi-state tax issues. Participants will learn how to use tax research programs, as well as more advanced areas of the tax application.

Program Description
Now that your tax staff members have successfully launched their careers in public accounting, they should be able to effectively handle most common Individual tax returns and basic Business tax returns.

This 3-day program moves them into the next phase of their career by giving them the expertise to prepare complex Individual and Business tax returns as well as make them ready to review the work of others. Topics include:

  • Expectations of a developing staff, including taking initiative and asking questions.
  • Case studies revolving around more complex issues like AMT, Schedules M-1, M-2 and M-3, and multi-State tax issues.
  • Refinement of tax research skills including research best practices using CCH® AnswerConnect
  • Advanced Wolters Kluwer tax functionality training.
